Post-Traumatic Stress

Post-traumatic stress is a NORMAL reaction to an abnormal situation.

For active duty troops and veterans living with combat operational stress (COS) and/or post-traumatic stress (PTS), we can connect you with professional experts in the field, provide free reading materials, and facilitate the ability of veterans to connect with, and help, their fellow veterans.

The "invisibility" of psychological injury presents a complex medical situation in which denial, stigma, fear of repercussions, and lack of knowledge of treatment options are issues our wounded, ill, and injured warriors face.

Some people have stress reactions that do not go away on their own, or may even get worse over time. This is known as combat operational stress. These individuals may be living with nightmares, flashbacks, difficulty sleeping, and/or feelings of emotional numbness and may later develop PTS. These symptoms can significantly impair their daily lives.

You are NOT alone.

PTS can significantly impair your daily life. Symptoms often include depression, substance abuse, issues with memory and cognition, and other physical and mental health problems. Post-traumatic stress is also associated with difficulties in social and family life, occupational problems, marital discord, family troubles, and difficulties in parenting.

Warriors rely on their comrades, and this must hold true with PTS as well. No one comes back from combat without bringing some of it with them. You watched your brothers'/sisters' backs in combat and now it's time to face the battle at home. Acknowledging that you or someone you know could use assistance is the first step in recovering from PTS.
